Ponto | Oticon Medical
The Ponto bone anchored sound processor for Oticon Medical
Attached to a small abutment, the sound processor captures sound in much the same way as a conventional hearing aid, except that it transforms sound into vibrations that are transmitted via the implant directly into the cochlea in the inner ear.
process
The Ponto 4 design sought to blend aesthetics and discretion, aiming for a device that appears compact in the hand yet unobtrusive when worn on the head. While evolving the Ponto DNA for a more modern look, the design still needed to maintain brand recognition.
The brief emphasized integrating the product into Oticon Medical's broader design language, following the precedent set by the Neuro 2 and Sentio lines, to ensure a cohesive product family appearance.
