UNEEG's EpiSight is a small, wireless device worn behind the ear to monitor brain activity in epilepsy patients. It uses a tiny under-the-skin sensor to track brain waves continuously, allowing for long-term monitoring without disrupting daily life.

Process background

We experimented with a wide range of forms and expressions, aiming to satisfy the goal of creating a device that would be very comfortable to wear all day and all night.

Also, it was essential to address the stigma of wearing a device of this type, balancing between the obvious medical application, the technical nature of the product and, most importantly, dignity and sensitivity towards users themselves.

The rounded triangular shape lent itself well to the positioning of the device on the head, as well as signalling a contemporary and even somewhat playful wearable.

Context

About one-third of people with epilepsy still have seizures they can't control, even after trying two or more medicines. This is where UNEEG’s EpiSight comes in handy. It gives doctors new information by collecting data about patients' seizures over a long time, as they go about their daily lives.

EpiSight is a small, easy-to-wear device that doesn't get in the way of normal activities. It constantly records brain activity (EEG) while patients do their usual things at home, work, or anywhere else. This helps doctors better understand each patient's seizures and how often they happen in real life.
