connectClip | Oticon

Wireless hearing accessory – allows users to effortlessly stream sound directly to their Oticon hearing aids.

Context

The Oticon ConnectClip transforms your hearing aids into a wireless stereo headset. It transmits telephone calls or music directly to the hearing instrument for hands-free operation and improved sound quality.

It also works as a wireless microphone. Users can hand it to a person who is talking and hear their voice clearly and without troublesome background noises.

process

Numerous ideas and sketches were produced for the development team to better understand which features and forms were worth exploring and implementing. Also, ideas might illustrate whether there were logical elements that could be applied to an extended product range.

Eventually we decided upon an extruded base shape consisting of an outer shell and a countersunk core with interface elements. The colour scheme needed to be neutral to support discreetness and universal use cases.
